Sprachendienst Konstanz

For over 35 years, Sprachendienst Konstanz is a language school in Konstanz. The main focus is on "German as a foreign language". Students from all over the world come to school to learn a language and then continue their education in Germany. Thanks to government programs, all migrants from the EU and other countries living permanently in Germany, as well as refugees and asylum seekers can participate in the courses of "German integration" in Sprachendienst Konstanz. In addition to simple language teaching, we try to encourage the acceptance of a different culture and a religious point of view.

Sprachendienst Konstanz enable people with different education to participate in the learning process. Annually about 1,000 people enrolled in language courses run by 35 teachers.

Sprachendienst Konstanz cooperates with the "Welcome Center" and "International Office" of the University of Constance and HTWG. For many years, we have been part of local and regional networks of migration and integration, such as: Netzwerk Integration der Stadt Konstanz, Netzwerk Migration des Landkreises Konstanz, Netzwerk Sprache des Landkreises Konstanz, Netzwerk Fortbildung Bodensee Oberschwaben.

We work with: The integration officer of Constance, the Refugee Commissioner in Constance, the voluntary help organization "Save me", vocational schools in Konstanz and the theater in Konstanz. We have a quality system since 2011 called "Paritätisches Qualitätssiegel", issued by SQCert, Frankfurt / Main.

In addition to the language course, the organization conducts extended educational activities with participants from outside the group. They are used to acquire skills and competences in the social, cultural and political fields. These include: guided city tours, access to the use of the city library, a visit to selected municipal institutions important for the participants, participation in city council meetings and court hearings, a visit to the university, participation in theater performances at the Konstanz Theater. These educational experiences meet the needs of students and aim to acquire life skills and create a network of active citizens.

Teachers have many years of experience in teaching the language of migrants in German. They also provide orientation courses on German history, politics, social system, education and culture. We involve external people working in the social and cultural sector. For example: creative writing workshops, biographical interviews, choral singing.
